The Kingdom of the Living and the Dead

The kingdom of the living and the dead
Perhaps is somewhere just within our head;
We humans die but memories remain
Of near ones not seen with our eyes again,
We have within ourselves our knowledge of them,
Imprinted in our hearts what we have learnt from them,
Then dying they take what was given by us,
So what is given and taken's shared among us..
Mistakes, regrets, must call us to forgiveness,
All overcome with ever loving-kindness.
The kingdom of the living and the dead is a
Realm where we unite, when all be said.
As over that horizon we hold hands,
We think too of our forefathers, in bonds
Of love and loyalty, and, in future ages,
Of those who in their time will turn life's pages.
The kingdom of the living and the dead
Perhaps is somewhere just within our head,
But illumination comes from those we lose:
That onward lighted path is ours to choose.
