Around us

Love of created things,
Even the smallest fly,
Can be what humanity brings,
Caring for all that dwells
in land and sea and sky.
Understanding our world,
Knowing our place in nature,
Stars and sun we behold,
Declaring our fragile place
in the cosmological order.
May we be content with our share
Of all around that’s on offer,
And dwell on ways that are fair,
Looking around
at places where poorer folk suffer.
Going light on consumption,
Thinking before careless wastefulness,
Moderating presumption.
We remember we’re sharing
with thousands of millions of others
in thankfulness.
